You forgot one important step that i feel needs to be stated. You should create a catalog for ever one of your shoots. Each catalog should live inside the root folder of tour shoot. This way you can keep things separate from each other and not have your lightroom database cluttered with photos from unrelated shoots. Plus it's easier to then move to different computers. I found out from people taking lightroom classes that they don't teach this.

YES, ArmandoEstrada's right! Doing this ONE thing, keeping the catalog WITH the images has saved me from insane chaos.... I often hand off work, and/or have work handed off to me on a portable hard drive with hundreds of images from a shoot.....
CaptureOnePro does this in a different way, which is less likely to cause chaos...

I import all into one catalog and I'm super anal about keywords, flag as pick, and creating smart collections to differentiate

Hello :)
First of all thank you for your time and comments, I really appreciate them :)
Let me state that I am a one catalogue guy and I am organizing everything bases on file system folders and keywords. I love this way but it has it's setback such as a small drawback at speed. But it's easier for me to have to backup and update one catalogue instead of many.
Also I would greatly appreciate it if you could leave a comment in the post page at the blog so we can start a conversation that might benefit all who read the series :)
My kind regards
Stratos
