  I want to give a student-friend a handful of really good resources-sites on basics and good tips for using Illy and ID.

  In your experience, what are the best and most useful sites?

  lynda.com is good, but that's money. You'd be surprised what you can find on youtube. It's usually some punk ass kid half your age from half-way around the world schooling you on how to do shit, but hey, it gets the job done.

  Bringing photos or drawings into Illustrator and tracing them with the pen tool is a really good thing to do for Illustrator...

  Learning how to draw correctly, i.e. nice, smooth looking curves with the pen tool is something I notice most Illustrator noobs suck hardcore at...
