I've got a gallery show coming up in a few months. The venue is set, date TBD (october or november, or maybe jan 2012). The works will be for sale and the gallery owner and I agreed to a 70-30 split of sales, 70% mine obviously. My problem now is funding to produce the prints and frame them. Anybody have tips on funding something like this? I'm considering kickstarter. Any advice you got, let me hear it. I don't want to have to resort to my grandma. :)

You could try Emukid's trick and consider Kickstarter, perhaps?
Otherwise, just like everyone elseāput you're own in, borrow from someone you cantrust, or pitch it to someone else and use some of your 70%.
- yeah, definitely considering kickstarter.johnny_wobble
- emukid's trick and kickstarter = same thing?johnny_wobble

70% is a tad high your end.
do 50% 50% and have the gallery take on some of the production cost.

^ production money from the gallery isn't an option.
i thought 70% was high too, but I was happy with it. :)
their 30% covers the venue, access their extensive contact list, publicity, hype, kegs...
it's not a full time gallery. it's shooting space some of the time, they have solo exhibits, group shows, small bands coming through town... and parties.
