Looking like the g12 .......or the hx9v

G12 is too much though looks nice. I think I might go with the Canon Digital Elph 300. It's super compact and takes decent shots. Thanks. :)

I heard decent things about the Canon S95. Thoughts?

changed my mind...going with Sony Cyber-shot HX9.
- Great camera, I have it myself but more for video shooting than photography.riskunlogic

I'm gonna nominate the iPhone as a supreme point-n-shoot camera. Not only is it a convenient device, it has apps that can turn it into various type of cameras that make it fun to shoot with.
- umm...hehe...uhhhmonospaced
- I take more pics wiith my iPhone than my dslr, simply because it's ALWAYS there.Projectile
- they're fun. However, still love my DSLR.omg
- ...and the camera is the only reason I dodn't go Android.Projectile
- I agree with the Iphone argument. IQ isn't as good but the best camera is the one that gets the shot?Atkinson

Not sure about picture quality / functionality etc but as far as looks go you'd be hard pushed to beat one of these custom painted bad boys

to me the Canon Ixus has always defined the line between pricey and amazing results/ease of use. The colours and lens quality are just incredible, as is the way it handles flash. If too pricey, go for an older model, not the latest and greatest Vivitar

I was thinking about getting an S95, but then a friend just sent me this.

@monkeyshine looks great the HX9, have you used one?
- No, but it got great reviews. GPS, touch screen, manual...perfect.monkeyshine

Hate to say it, but I can understand why she wouldn't want your D60. Besides her possibly not understanding how useful it can be...It's just not always comfortable to carry around those types of cameras. Especially when you have smaller hands.
I really like the Canon S90 and S95, but it may be more expensive than you want. Perhaps try a refurbished or second-hand one. It's in-between a point-and-shoot and DSLR in terms of features.
- Always worth checking out Henry's eBay store: http://stores.ebay.c…Jaline
- thanks, Jaline. Yeah, I rarely carry my Nikon around anymore. I still love it though.monkeyshine

I need to buy a simple point and shoot for a gift. Is there anything good under $150? I know it's not much but which brand would you recommend?
- OSFA0
Is ^ that one good? Would you recommend it over a Canon?
I've never had Panasonic...

monkeyshine, how is the Leica? Bare bones? Dynamic enough to use everyday/allday? I'm torn (not to hijack your thread) between the D-Lux 5:
...& something a little more, um, capable like the LUMIX GX1:
..coming out in the next few weeks.
What would all y'all recommend for a general shooting camera?
Image quality is king...
