Ask them what you'll be doing.
Ask them how they do shit.
Ask them how long they have been designing.
Ask them what they would do for a Klodike Bar.

Ask them if they are insecure about their own sexuality. Also, point out that you know where they live and if they don't reward you with money and sex, you will harm their families and pets.

When ever they ask you a question, turn it round to ask them a question, for example.
Would you like a coffee?...
What do you think, would I like a coffee?Lots of questions right there!

Thanks to all responders. I've always asked the usual questions. Then at the interview they've asked me if I have any more questions and after responding how they've already answered all of them, I get some blank looks, like I've just missed the secret handshake. I just wanted to see if I was missing something big.

Is your studio financially sound? I think it's 100% fair to know the financial structure of a company before you start. Understanding client billings, vendor relationships, client relationship structures (retainer vs. project-based) are all very important things to me. I believe it's important to ask those types of questions. It demonstrates an understanding that this is a business, not a fucking hobby.

ask as many questions as it takes for you to decide rationally if you'd like to spend all day, every day, in that place, with those people, for the next year or so.
if you're an idiot, that is no questions. if you're smart and can think critically, then you should have no problems.
ask questions that pertain to your current situation. something you dont like in your current gig? ask a question about it, to make sure it wont be the case at the new place. etc.
just use your brain for like.. 5 minutes. if you can't come up with questions, you seriously don't deserve the job.

We always ask this to all potential employees, from interns to senior management:
"Which one of our projects do you particularly like & why?"
"How would you improve it?"- honestly, those are pointless questions unless you give them the full story and context.randommail
- Meh. Not pointless. I'd be interested to see how critical and thoughtful their responses are.Gucci
- Yeah the idea is that they need to be familiar with our work to apply, and also be able to think critically (on the spot).tOki
- fucking pointless and how can I say how I would improve it without understanding how it got to that point?animatedgif
- it's the equivalent of some cunt designer "Redesigning" Google or the NYT homepage. Yes you can do it, but it doesn't mean it has any worthanimatedgif
- actually has any worth.animatedgif

Point to the picture on their desk and ask, "Who's the cunt?"

This is a good sign, if they want YOU to ask questions.
1. I'd ask a LOT about clients... and business relationships, they may be cagey, and if so, offer to sign an NDA, but what you want to know is if they have (A) some long term clients (B) some brands you want to use in your portfolio (C) some ability to CONTROL the process with clients, rather than let the clients CONTROL them!
2, I'd ask a LOT about process, day-in-the-life,etc
3. I'd try REALLY HARD to figure out if there will be a LOT of meetings involving you or not.... the strange part is nobody likes meetings, but if you're RARELY in meetings, you suddenly may be asked to do things you have no back-story knowledge of and you may have some WTF moments....
