Traveling to Philadelphia next week for business. First time. Staying at Le Meridien. Will have some free time to wander afternoons and evenings. Any and all suggestions welcomed!

Your right in Center City, plenty of stuff to drink and eat! Reading Terminal is just a few blocks from your hotel. Enjoy and sample local foods. Also, your next to Chinatown. A great place to eat over there is called Banana Leaf. A mix malaysian style restaurant. Good price and great taste. Also if you like sneakers and street wear, check out Abakus Takeout on 10th street in Chinatown. Just look for ducks and sneakers in the window with a yellow awning.
I can keep going..i love philly.

The Piazza at Schmidts over in Northern Liberties (think 2nd street, north of Spring Garden St) typically has some cool things going on (free concerts...think Airborne Toxic Event is playing this upcoming Saturday), a few different bars, restaurants, plus the burger joint PVT has the best burgers ever..plus has a cool bar/dance room thing on Sat nites.
Helium Comedy Club usually has shows going on. Just saw Dave Attell this past Saturday...was a trip.
North Bowl (bowling alley but has a cool atmosphere...is more of a big ass bar than a bowling alley), that's on 2nd in Northern Libs as well.
Frankford Hall in Northern Libs/Frankford Ave is a cool spot. Great beer (you get the big glasses too). It's a mixed crowd (Think Hipsters, Jersey pretty boys, a lot of hot girls actually, and some normal folk) but definitely a cool spot nonetheless. Typically always a lot of folks there, it's a newer place.
Avoid the bars/clubs on Delaware avenue.
Penthouse Club in South Philly is the best strip joint ever, if you're into that sorta thing.
Lots of cool bars around Rittenhouse Square (Continental, Drinkers Pub, Farmers Restaurant, etc).
You can go to a Phillies Game at Citizen's bank park. They kick major ass btw.
Lots of Art Galleries in Old City if ur into art.
Then there's all the typical touristy thing going on (Art Museum, all of the historical sites, etc)
- Penthouse Club is in North Philly, and is very heroin chic!utopian
- It's in South Philly. I go there every few months :)fyoucher1

I was going to comment but fyoucher1 said a lot right there. I do suggest old city (national mechanics - best bar), and the northern liberties piazza and frankford hall.
