Which one renders better at smaller (10~12px) sizes on the web?

do you use some kind of font replacement? otherwise I‘d say most people don‘t have Helv. Neue anyway...
concerning your question: I have absolutely no clue... very helpful, I know...

No. Just wanted to use regular fonts. Using:
font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif...
for now. But still can't figure out which one renders better across browsers.
Anybody know?

Helvetica Neue will fuck up for like 0.05% of your windows users or people who have bootleg fonts and they will BITCH AND BITCH about it. Take it from my experience.
Just pick a decent looking google web font (google it) and be done with it. I dig PT sans and Droid sans.

The minimali.st link was helpful. But this:
"Helvetica Neue has much smaller number of glyphs, hardly anything international. Helvetica, however, supports many languages. If you are not going to write in any foreign languages, then Neue is ok."
is a concern. Is that true? I was under the assumption that Helvetica Neue was the more complete, modern, varient. No?

In my opinion Helvetica Neue web rendering in inferior to Helvetica.

A typeface hinting depends exclusively on it's manufacturer.
