Working on an upcoming luxury travel brand with a french moniker. Could use any inspiration for travel or french typography if you guys know any good resources. All I'm finding are bistro style stuff which isn't appropriate.

The Spring issue of Eye had a nice article about French graphic/type designer Roger Excoffon and Founderie Olive for whom he worked.

Sorry, no pictures on the link so you either need a physical mag or some googling, but its probably much more along the right lines. The dude's agency did all the graphic design stuff for Air France in the 50s and 60s, for example.

I thought that Trochut was French, turns out he's spanish.
Have a look at the penmanship of french wine labels, or the black and white french movie stills.

Is the the client (or you, for that matter) more partial to serifs? If so, you should be looking to the Old-Styles and Neoclassicals, like Garamond (shudder) and Didot. To me these are quintessentially French.
Consider the logo of the republic itself:
To the consumer, for better or for worse, going this direction would probably resonate a lot more and communicate 'French luxury brand'
Not very inspired, I know, but it's a good starting point.
