People who don't respond to emails or tweets piss me off...I'm busy but I take the time to respond to everything.

drives me crazy too.
Just let me know you got it!

I've been waiting 3-4 days now on two separate items on craigslist, no responses at all and both things are still sitting there as unsold. drives me crazy. I always get back to cl inquiries for my stuff even if only to say hold tight bro.

What about people who phone me about 7 seconds after sending me an email to ask me if I've gotten it?
FFS--one or the other, but not both!!

Typically, i'll politely respond to any email I recieve.
However, there is a large majority of people out there that simply cannot fathom that you wouldn't have read their oh-so-important emails and if you don't respond will either follow-up with more emails, IMs, or rarely, a phone call. These people rarely, if ever, deserve the polite follow-up email. And I will go out of my way to inconvenience them if at all possible, since I hate anyone who assumes so much.

This thread should have had no responses.

So what's an appropriate time to wait before replying to an email? I usually leave it no longer than a few days, I mean I don't want to appear desperate and too keen. They might think I'm really eager and pathetic. What if I scare them off by replying right away, and then they don't get back to me, what then?
I don't think I can take that kind of rejection. :)

^ I like the fact that there are different levels of communication.
My company uses skype to IM each other all the time. So much more effective than sending an email, and generally one on one so no need to carefully consider answers etc just answer the question quickly. We keep emails for sending things, briefs, specs etc and/or when we want a few people to be involved.

i tell my clients that if it is not in an email or phone call, i haven't received it. I also require 24 hours for response and a phone call confirming *important* emails.
- tesmith0
Do what a lot of my clients do which is phone 10 seconds after they send and ask if I received it, before I even have a chance to reply. That being said a reply is proper.

I always get the same email forwarded to me from 3 other people who were all on the CC list with me. Fucking hate it.
