Now, that's weird!
Here’s an interesting little bit of news for you. We’ve learnt that regulators in France have banned the words ‘Facebook’ and ‘Twitter’ from use on TV and radio.
Some people might say that the French have acquired an unfair reputation for being obsessed with frustratingly pedantic rules and regulations, but this latest ruling would suggest that reputations are sometimes earned.

This is actually a good thing, it seems like every every news story in the states is follow by "from his/her twitter page".

^ That's not what the law is blocking. It is blocking the news station from saying things like "Follow us on twitter for latest info."

Why would traditional media want to isolate itself from new media?
Seems like a very bad idea and a disconnection from the way the general public gathers information today.

They're stalling until they can coin French words for them that don't take 5 minutes to say. Peut-être « le oiseau de messager » et « le livre des visages éléctronique ».
