Looking for resources, see subject.
Do yo know of any other good resources on the topic of "art movements in design", except for the great "Graphic Style" by Heller ?
Cheers.

Just asking. I have never studied the history of arts – that's because I've never went to an art school – so it is a bit of a challenge to find the right resources. I am sure, there are people here, who did and who are interested in the subject.
On the other hand "Pic of the day" is also a good thread.

if you are talking about german expressionism from the first quarter of the XX century it was a modernist movement that had no major influence in design, their main focus were painting and cinema...by that time other modernist vanguard movements were more effectively active in design, specially the constructivists...
- true but look at the v.graphic printmaking from german expressionism - very much an influence on designfadein11
- all aspects of visual arts at some point contibute to designelpunch
- yep and you have just contradicted yourself hafadein11
- no. one thing is to be a influence in design other is to have their own design agendaelpunch

my goal is to try to understand and "decode" designs, influenced by the expressionist movements (I am inclined to the german movement, but this is not a must). However, if someone can expand on the movement in general, like you actually just did, I'd appreciate it a lot.
