New site launched? Thoughts? www.saforian.com

nav going back in the other direction might be helpful, or it might not... i wanted to see something that i clicked past, didn't know how far i'd have to go and then got in the 'clicking rhythm' and missed it a second time. but i could have just clicked the "work" tab at the top... cool stuff though.

@akrok yea good call

@bjladams that makes sense. Just trying to give an almost randomness to it. But may have to rethink it. Good feedback.

on the homepage
right now, you have to click two times to see the project.
why not, just do a roll over function for the text to appear and 1 click for going there.

overall, too many type styles
I'm not a fan of the centered type especially when everything else is left-aligned. The header is unnecessarily tall. Top nav aligns to nothing (frustrating). The "Our Method" section uses those cheesy "fake 3D" banners (blue), but they feel out of place because nowhere else do you use them.
Basically, it seems like a hodge podge of other sites and not one cohesive one. Hope the next revision is a little more grid-aligned and thought out. Cheers.

@akrok we originally had that but on some of the mobile/tablet devices it didn't make as much sense.

@mono we use the 3d style on the homepage and anywhere we have a callout. It's also part of a marketing effort. We currently are using 3 type faces and 2 versions of one of two of them. But I get your point. Thanks.

Agree with pretty much everything monospaced said. The many typefaces are clashing including the type in the logo. For instance, you're using live text Arial in the nav and Verdana for the main copy for no apparent reason.
The bevelled effect on the detail page also seems unnecessary and distracting. Overall not a bad start by any means but take it back to basics and just one or two typefaces, it look much better.

Good catch on the Verdana. It will be updated.

I think I agree with most of what monospaced said. The one thing that IMMEDIATELY stood out to me (and I'm surprised no one said this yet) is your company logo. Design-wise it's fine, but fidelity-wise, it's not. The thin strokes are not reproducing well here, and the type strokes are maligned by the downscaling. The same issues appear in the symbol as well. Either it needs to be saved out again with better settings, or enlarged for better clarity.
Some other things I noticed:
- The "More" nav on the home page should have a way to go back, not just forward.- Having to click twice to get to the actual projects from the home page is a big usability turn off for me. I understand your comment about mobile, but how many clients are you actually expect to pick up strictly because of a mobile-ready version of your site? In the last six months mobile browsing has jumped about 2% to roughly 4.5% total. Is that really a fair reason to make your regular website less usable for 95.5% of visitors?
- Some nice whiz-bang features throughout, but on the whole it seems like this was deployed in a real hurry. For example, there are images and other elements throughout the site that are cut-off, etc. See below...
- The methodology page is nice, but maybe a bit overwhelming.
- I like the paper design for the comments area of your blog. A little confusing how some projects are in "Work" and some are on the blog area though.
- As someone else mentioned, the CSS needs to be adjusted on the About page so your heads are not cutoff— http://saforian.com/about.php
- If it were my site, I would make the social media icons open in a new window. Otherwise people will be taken to Facebook, briefly glance at your page, see they have some status updates, check those, and then possibly forget to go back to your website.
Hope that was somewhat helpful...

Thanks dMullins. What browser/OS were you viewing this in?
