anyone ever have this problem?
safari feezes, and I force quit. The window is still there, but I can open a new window and that works. Other one is frozen.
same with VLC player.

yes I've had this once or twice, but not for a few years. maybe it's some 3rd party plugin.

I get this on my netbook, running Leopard not SL 10.5, and my girlfriend gets it on her Mac on Snow Leopard.
I'd be interested in a solution to this. By the way, neither myself or my girlfriend uses Safari, it happens to me in Chrome and VLC (only programs I use on it really) and my missus tends to have it happen in any program, and not just when it's running heavy.

sometimes happens to vlc. when I click on the icon again, then it disappears.

Sounds like Windows 10 years ago.

never seen this in 8 years of using OS X.

It's most likely not a "Mac thing." It's probably more of a 3rd party software thing like VLC that actually does display stuff.

From my experiences, it'd have to be VLC or Chrome. Those are the only two programs running on both my and my girlfriends' machines. It's weird though as it's not always VLC or Chrome that has the problem.
