So it turns out the iphone still connect to a G3 Network even if your phone is on a Wifi network at home. I have just Log into my T-Mobile account and there are hundreds of data transfers being logged. Now if I did not have a data service plan set up I would be charge for all this data. WTF is that about. I thought that if you are connected to a Wifi the G3 network would not be used on the iphone.

You know what I think it's also laughable...
I'm pretty sure about this actually. If use Skype on Wifi it's slower than using my laptop.
Up to the point where it's unbearable actually... on a super fast wi-fi network.
Could this be on purpose?

hmm, i dont think it works like that for me.
for instance when traveling internationally, i only use my phone where free wi-fi is available and i never get charged like i would for 3g data rates.

I'm going to log into my account and show you some of the data being transferred, there are bloody hundreds of logs. And this is supposed to be from my Wifi network at home.
