I can't help thinking if that's for real, they could have at least spent some time on the video they used instead of projecting that dork

If they are using NFC, its too far to transmit.
Multi monitor display has different inputs and a convertor box which is hard to hack via wireless. If they shown a video where either only one or few monitors being hacked in that situation, would have been more believable.
Also, larger video display is a different type compared to smaller LED or LCD or plasma. Different input, different system.
