I'm an old fart looking to learn HTML so I can cover more ground in my freelance work.
Anyone recommend a good book for learning? I know tons of flash, and ultimately want to design some simple HTML projects that rely mostly on Javascript.
Anyone?

I don't know if there is a good book that covers everything from the basics to JS stuff. I always learned by just kind of diving in and learning as I go along.

heh — what school? does it have a 'design' slant to it, or is it for like Computer Science majors?

i learned (and still learning) thru online tutorials and doing things like taking a wordpress theme and breaking it down backwards. probably not the industry standard, and probably missing a lot - but for my mind it's the way that i'm learning. but i like taking machines apart and putting them back together. my wife is not a fan of all the un-working things in the back yard...

dont have any one place i get them from, mostly just google what i'm having trouble with. most of them are designed by tech-heavy bandits, so the designs are terrible, but the info is still relevant. mostly it came down to buying a simple theme and downloading textwrangler.
