I received a letter from my previous employer regarding the use of a intro theme i wrote for their instructional videos for their online store.

    Here's the letter:
Long time. We have run into an issue with YouTube regarding our rights to use the intro that you wrote for our videos. All we need is something from you stating that you created the music for use as a theme for the **edited store name out*** when you were a graphic designer here with your signature on it. Also, it needs to state what software you used and anything else that went into the production would probably be helpful as well. You can hand-write it if you want, or if you would prefer we can write something up I just don’t remember all the details (I believe you played the guitar for it and used Garageband for the other tracks).

Does youtube actually request this kind of thing, anyone have any experience? I'm not interested in whole sale signing over the rights to my old employer- which i don't think is what they are asking. Neither do i want to prevent them from using it, I'm just trying to make sure they aren't trying to nab the rights to it.

I hope this isn't all together inappropriate for a design board.

Have you checked youtube for answers? Seems like the best place to start.
