Just curious to negotiating the pay rate these days, going into a new job, are you still negotiating for your salary regardless of the recession?

You weren't making $152k before, now have benefits, and work in Detroit by any chance?

I have been recently told by both internal/external recruiters as well as Human Resource peeps at companies/studios, that when negotiating your salary be prepared to provide your salary history.
So...if at your last job you were making 90k and now you are asking for a 120k salary, that this will not fly and your negotiation deal and job opportunity will be dead!!!!
Be careful what you ask for.
- "It's not required to provide salary history, but annoys HR if u leave blank" -- my wife who is HR. Just don't lie about what you made.fyoucher1

i always negotiate. when i'm asked for history, it's always me verbally telling them, so i always give a bigger number.
really important to know your value to begin with.
if you don't negotiate it can be a red flag for them.

I was fed up with a job one time and decided to ask for a bunch of stuff at my review..
I asked for 10k raise, 4-day work weeks and the same for my good friend who worked with me.
I got all of it because I asked for it. The worst thing they could of said was "no."
So me and my buddy played golf and drank beers every friday while the others were stuck at work. That lasted 1 year until some new manager came aboard and started swinging her dick around.
