You drop you car off to a valet. You return to find your inside door handle broken off on the driver's side. Who's fault is it?

whoever broke it.

exactly. The guy is trying to claim that it's considered wear and tear on the car.

yours, 'cause those little valet claim slips have legalese on them that absolve them of responsibility, and it's too small a charge for your insurance company to fight them on it.

The example that he used was, so if I turn the ignition key on your car and the engine falls out, is it my fault then.

are you 100% sure that he returned your car? or is it a cheep knock-off?

Maybe I have anger problems, but I want to shove the broken handle up his ass and re-break it.

"Who's fault is it?"
yours. 'cause it was going to break anyway.

Obviously theirs - if there was a problem with the handle, it would have broken as you used it to get out before they started valeting.
They used it to get out of the car, and broke it.
It couldn't be clearer.

Option 1: Try and get them to replace it. Good luck with that.
Option 2: Go down to the auto wrecker, salvage a door handle and install it yourself.
Option 3: Get someone to fix it for a ridiculous amount of money.
Option 4: Do nothing and start a forum thread about it.

since you replaced the broken handle yourself did you have a chance to do a little failure analysis? was it wear and tear on the parts? how exactly did it break?
- I had it replaced, but just looking at the handle, it was broke in half by someone jerking on it too hard.dbloc

Option 5: Write a scathing Yelp review where you talk about nothing other the door handle and poor valet service.
- yeah I thought about that actually. yelp is actually more powerful than some think.dbloc
