- eh, not so sure about that. there's a tribal mentality in much of the middle east that doesn't jive with parts of the democratic process...showpony
- I'm completely sure a huge portion of the uprising citizens are muslims.********
- The ones looking for democracy and talking about it that is.********

There's a lot of hypocrisy in the West saying we want change but only if it results in a government that we like and/or is nice to Israel. The whole point of democracy is that people have a choice.
- Democracy is an illusion of choice. Be honest with yourself.ETM
- There is no spoon?********
- So, countries having democracy doesn't matter then? I think people living under actual dictatorship would disagree.********
- westerners are cynical about democracy while simultaneously taking it for granted********
- War on Democracy is a good documentary...********

I love how the media keeps asking "what should Obama/ U.S. govt do now"
Either the U.S. has some behind the scenes power that no one is explaining in the press, or it has some kind of weird delusion of absolute control over everything that happens in the world.
I can see this being a consistent theme in the next few decades. The press asks, what should the U.S. do, while events continue to progress regardless of our actions.
- the US either intervenes or not because it benefits them on a global, political levelrybration
