Do you use one or the other or both?
Do you have strong views about which is best - what are they / why?
I'm fairly on the fence although I prefer to go digital where possible.

both but most of the time print.

Hard to beat a physical copy in an interview.

I suppose it would depend on what kind of work you do, what you're presenting and to whom. One could be more suitable in one situation and vice versa.

yes true but do you find you're getting the same amount of face to face interviews as you once did?
I should probably have stated illustration portfolio really - I don't have much experience with any other field, except Fine Art.

No. In my case I make stuff, scan it and send digital copies. The stuff I make is generally exhibited and sold as fine art / drawing. The scanned / digital / manipulated version used as illustration either digital or print. So for me a digital portfolio works best for illustration and allows me to send it internationally where I couldn't otherwise.

I will have some digital stuff coming up, especially motion, so I will too have to decide on how to go about it. My portfolio is 90% print right now.

i think it's nice when they go hand in hand - showing your design skills digitally and proving your knowledge of print with a tangible sample.
