All,
I've got a project that I need to get off the ground that will require some Drupal expertise - something we've not got in house.
Anyone got any good freelancers they've used / agencies etc etc? Ideally would need to be Manhattan based.

Jesus cries when you use Drupal. Hire someone that does Rails, it will please him.

Can nobody read my username? It's SUBLOCKED...no N there. Everyone gets it wrong...oh well.
Anyhow - Drupal's codebase is PHP and just ugly and nasty. Programming plugins for it is generally a horrible experience. It's what motivated me to learn Rails about 5 years ago.

I can see why people give Drupal flak - it's got a low barrier to entry and a steep learning curve .. so a lot of low-quality sites are produced.
Having said that, I think Drupal is great - you have a system which is extensible and a module ecosystem which is incredibly _VAST_. There's no limit to where you can go with it - there are companies that are doing amazing things with it. The community surrounding it is really well developed. I like it a lot.
Programming modules for Drupal actually isn't a nasty experience - it's a pretty straightforward and powerful system. In many ways I think Drupal can be considered a framework - it's more than just a straightforward CMS.

Drupal Sucks

Are you choosing a Content Management System for your next site? Allow me to throw in my two cents against Drupal. In theory, Drupal is a CMS that lets you control your site out of the box. In practice, it’s a nightmare to configure and maintain.- basically, IT FUCKING SUCKS and your client got DUPED into thinking it was a reliable & supported CMS Framework********
- The guy in that article has no clue - reads like a baby chucking it's toys out of the pram.********
