What is the best way of taking a typeface and or abstract shape and making an exact copy of it within itself, and at the same time keeping an equal amount of space on all sides? Thanks.

when dealing with fonts i sometimes find it easier to add a stroke and use to adjust and visualize the offset.
when ready to expand, outline font, outline the stroke and immediately use pathfinder/ minus front to delete all the trims with one click.

in Appearance, duplicate, NO FILL, must be back, and adds stroke,...must work...

- if you do it this way, the stroke's path doesnt match the font's original shape.e-pill
- this is more like off seting the stroke and creating a larger expanded shape. not exact.e-pill
- well, if you expand the ratio, the inner space change...it's hard, in this way a triangle must be finish like a circle...Miesfan
