Just got back from the cinema and i thought it was very good.
Soundtrack was great, story was adequate, hot chicks were hot and the visuals were stunning.
Wasn't a fan of that Zeus character, he should of been played by David Bowie as he was clearly trying to be him, maybe they wanted bowie but couldn't get him.
Interesting encouragement of open-source software at the beginning of the movie.
The whole idea of the iso's and the grid changing the world i found a bit bizarre, did he want users to live in a digital realm?
Didn't really explain how the isos DNA would benefit the human race (maybe that was me not paying attention).
Liked Jeff Bridges old school phrases like "radical" and "diggin it", give him character and ties in nicely with his whole idea of imperfection and being human, if he was cold and serious and lacked that type of personality he would be just like a program.
Not a fan of 3D movies though, i dont want to wear polarized glasses which completely kill any color or brightness in the movie, particularly with something like tron.
What did you handsome / pretty QBNers think?

no. I have not.

I thought the 3D was awesome in that movie.
- the best was the house at the beginning, camera panning to the front door.Hombre_Lobo

I started watching, but got bored and lost interest half way through, same as with Inception.
- you serious?
i can see why for inception, but this had the visual delicious to keep me gluedHombre_Lobo

If you grew up with TRON, seeing it in the theater, this movie is a blast. Forget plot, forget the cheesy ending, it's still fucking TRON!!! See it on the big screen if you can.
- CHEESY ENDING??!? THANKS FOR RUINING IT FOR ME!!!nb
- hahaha
its a mainstream movie its always cheesy!!! :DHombre_Lobo - Way more spoilers in the first post than this, dude. LOL.DRIFTMONKEY

Call me old-fashioned, but I can't forget the plot. If I wanted to see only cool special effects and motion work, I can watch a car commercial or something.
Any movie that fails to submerse you in the plot and world of the film just gets boring. Same as with Transformers remake, the new Indiana Jones movie, and most other regurgitated shit Hollywood cranks out these days.
- fair point dude. suppose its like polishing a shit with effects. fortunately i thought the story was ok.Hombre_Lobo

i loved it. i learned a long time ago the value of leaving my brain at the door, and it has paid off immensely.
not to say there haven't been exceptions. i mean, did you ever see that gi joe movie? both the plot and acting were horrible.

I don't really understand all this "it's an action movie, leave your brains at the door" stuff. No one's expecting motherfucking Schindler's List. Just a good plot and storyline FOR an action movie. Not a very high threshold to reach:)
- But whatever...obviously I'm in the minority on this. Carry on Tronheadsabettertomorrow
- rambo has the best plot ever. Is that an action film?sothere
- Strangely I've never seen Rambo:)abettertomorrow

I went to see the original when it came out and I'd say there is no way this could compete, as the original came out at just the right time, not just because it was groundbreaking in terms of film and cg, but it tapped into the generation that first experienced what gaming was (Pong etc).
But Tron2 is good, and succeeds on quite a few levels. The visuals are stunning, no question. Costume and conceptual designs were brilliant & actually they tackled casting as well as you could in the situation although The CG Flynn in the real world looked a bit waxy...
Everything in the 'Game world' worked, and made sense in terms of an evolution of a story, but this is where the good stuff ends.
The real world stuff was just plain lazy. Again, on a few levels. I felt like they just couldn't be arsed to think things through, and you could tell they wanted to move to the Game world as soon as possible.
One offending scene, as an example, is the lead up to Flynn's arcade - where Flynn's son gets the keys, opens the door (and just leaves it open behing him??), then switches the power on and all the arcade machines power on, and then - and this is the first unrealistic scenario- he notices a tiny mark in the floor - (which realistically he wouldn't give a crap about), then one thing leads to another and he works out that the machine is a secret door (er... yeah right!) - to a secret room...
The next bit of laziness is where you dont see how he gets sucked in or brought back into the real world - it's like the director thought, fuck it, we cant think how this would be done, so let's let the viewer do the work - LAZY!Anyway cant be arsed to say anymore - oh apart from - its definitely worth seeing - but make sure you see it in 3d.
- My favorite over the top moment was when he parachuted off the building for no apparent reasonabettertomorrow
- It was kind of like the vine swinging scene with the monkeys in Indiana Jonesabettertomorrow
- Yeh, good call, that was just another 'what the fuck was that for' moment...AVAVA
