I'm curious as to what resolutions are common amongst the creative folks.
Me:
1920x1080 or 1440x900 depending on which screen I'm using, and I tend to browse at full screen (you heard me) or about 1/3rd width. You?

- Ha. I'm just curious as I'm building a new portfolio and trying to optimize quality and filesize of my images.nb
- Also, you didn't put an estimated typical browser width.nb
- Just kidding, but even though you see a lot of large screens, you need to be prepared for 1280x800 scenario too...raf
- For sure. I'm designing for low-res & small screens, too.nb

... and roughly how wide is your browser window? Half? Third? Full screen?

I'm making my portfolio at 1060x 740. I tested it on my Dad's (Sony Vaio) PC laptop and it's too tall.

Ok, let me clarify.
I know all about 'typical users' and designing for all devices and resolutions and all that stuff. Plenty of info out there on that subject, and it's been discussed on qbn more than once.
All I want to know is what YOU use. Post your resolution and your typical browser width as a percentage of your screen.

I think you assuming some standard even amongst us. Personally, I am on 3 machines any given day... 1920x1080, 1650x1050 and a laptop with 1280x900. My browser width changes depending on what I am browsing, my window size isn't static. If I am reading, I make it narrower, if I am browsing images or data etc, I often make it wider.
