basically, i'm trying to populate a database table with ajax using the script i posted. it works fine on firefox, safari and chrome, but not on ie6. client insist it has to work on ie6 because they are still using it.
please help.

where is it failing exactly? do you get errors in the javascript console? log php errors on the server and see what you're getting there and use an http sniffer to see what the request and response look like

just alert('them out when you need to trace whats happening')

@acescence
the error is that the data doesn't get recorded to the database when using ie6.
which sniffer would you recommend when using ie6? thanks

IE can have weird issues with ajax depending on your server setup, gzip, character encoding, etc.. helpful to see the headers

maybe wireshark? I use httpscoop on os x, not sure what the win equivalent of that is.
also try just echoing back the post request to see what's getting sent, or log it to a file.

I don't know what problems you're having, but this plugin saved me in IE: http://benalman.com/projects/jqu…

fuck, i finally figured out the problem. wasn't the ajax after all. i was so hell bent that it might have been an httprequest error since the the database didn't populate i overlooked that a script didn't add an attribute to element. that was why it wasn't working! aaaaargh!
