Do ladies code? :o)
Download notepad++ and learn to code by hand (it's easy once you get the hang of it). Practice makes perfect.
Start with http://www.w3schools.com/ then practice practice practice!
- I've already started learning in notepad. Code does the ladies. That site looks like its gonna keep me productive. Thank you!buttfacemonster

I've already practiced in notepad by hand. ;)
- If so, what are you "training in dreamweaver"?seeessess

Learn CSS.
- Stugoo0
if you are using dreamweaver then use only code view.
ny advice would be to learn the css box model and html. then once you are comfortable there, start looking into javascript.ideally the best way to learn is to practice, so try designing a simple portfolio or gallery and building it from scratch. from there every build you do will get better.
download FireFox, get firebug. enjoy.

Also get Web Developer Toolkit for Firefox

p.s I can't stress, enough about learning html and css before javascript.
- I agreeseeessess
- Thats actually the order every site has it listed to learn as well. Definately the order I'm going in.buttfacemonster
- Step 5: Learn to spell definitely, crucial part of web dev. http://www.d-e-f-i-n…seeessess

My suggestion: run like hell for another occupation.

- This isn't my occupation, yet.buttfacemonster

Most crucial bit of css to learn:
* html * {display:none}

I personally prefer the developer tools built into chrome and safari over firebug. right-click anything and select inspect element. really handy for updating and debugging css and js in the browser.
and yeah, stay away from all the automagic dreamweaver stuff and just use it for code completion. or get coda or textmate instead.
- agreed. Chrome inspector is great and not a resource hog like firebug
epic_rim - +1, coda is sexysilentpost

other random stuff to look up:
- doctype and how it effects rendering, especially in IE
- html 4/5 versus xhtml (basically, avoid xhtml)
- css reset
- css clearfix
- IE conditional comments- avoid xhtml ??ETM

- No. If you want to follow standards, use XHTML.johfiner

Viva La QBN!
- buttfacemonster0
Looks like my first day on QBN is going well. Thank you all for your suggestions. Let's get this coding started! Once I sit down at home and begin start to finish, I'm sure there will be some confused posts to follow. So, don't go too far, I'm gonna need ya!

ask questions here. the signal to noise ratio on honest, good questions is better.
notepad++ is great. dreamweaver has that nice ftp feature, though, which I use.
