Interesting that America chooses a guy who was clearly shown to be a lying, cheating egomaniac Person of the Year

Why Zuckerberg in 2010?
Clearly Time Magazine felt they needed to side step Assange. But I guess if they selected Lady Gaga, that would have been too obvious?

Zuckerberg? What the fuck?. Anon should shut Time down.

Assange came in at the end of the year with some crazy shit - but honestly, Mark is a good choice for the cover. He's connected HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of people in the largest meeting space that our history has ever known. While assange has aired the dirty laundry of more than a few diplomats and politicians, his contributions are still in their infancy. I wouldn't be surpised to see him win it next year once he drops this "bomb" on people - but the merits/detriments of his actions need time to gestate.
- it's not like he invented the internet. is this facebook thing really that great?pizzafire
- Yes.identity
- Depends on whether you think is more important, distracting the public or informing them.instrmntl
- i mean depends on whatinstrmntl
- two completely differenct devices. I could ask whether Assange should be considered a hero for exposing confidentialidentity
- secrets? or a terrible villain for exposing points in the world, where if attacked, could cripple the United States?identity
- i wasn't comparing ... just don't care much for facebook. matter of opinion though.pizzafire
- totally fair. Assange fell more than a few steps in my book once he started releasing information that put american lives in dangeridentity
- lives in danger.identity
- George W. Bush put way more American lives in danger and death. Assange was showing us the truthpinkfloyd
- Pentagon said that Wikileaks has not released anything to compromise national security.randommail

FUCKING HELL... Can't believe Lady Gaga won...

Zuckerberg is a sly. Assange has integrity.

It should have gone to the Unemployed American.

I think assange should have had it.
Facebook is genius, like identity said it does connect hundreds of people, but myspace was around before it so it certainly cant be seen as revolutionary.
Assange on the other hand risking his own life for the transparency of large government, and exposing some horrible hidden truths, thats very admirable.
Mark zuckerberg has had is day, but this year Julian assange is a bigger story surely. Facebook boomed in 2008/2009 didnt it? not 2010.

Zuckerberg looks like a character from Avatar.

I still think Assange is worthy of it - I just think that the leaks need time to gestate - and apparently he has something CRAZY he's going to release. If he releases this 'bomb' in the next year and it really does incriminate and expose as he says it will - than yes, give it to the guy - but just next year. He's release hundreds of thousands of wires. There hasnt been enough time to go through them all and what impact have they REALLY had yet (other than those that have surfaced that embarrass people and nations) I believe the impact of his leaks have truly been felt yet.

zuckerberg is a very strange choice.
free advertisement couldn't possibly be their only motivation...?
- mrghost0
2002 it was "the Whistleblowers"
maybe wikileaks was the same too soon??

If they were going to go with a CEO, Jobs would have been a better choice than Zuckerberg. Facebook didn't do anything particularly special this year, whereas Apple introduced the iPad which could be viewed as the latest in their decade long revival.

Mark Zuckerberg exemplifies what America has become!
