you can ban HCFS and directly reduce the negative health effects but you can't ban high calorie food or saturated fat

Well, being that I am an experienced food package designer, I thought I would give out a serious comment for a change.
The truth is that "if" HCFS is of questionable concern, Ben & Jerry's has planned to remove it from the formula long before the hippies thought initiated this petition. But - it is not as simple as it sounds, it could take a very long time, if not a couple years for plant engineers to make a switch in the ingredients, also can be very challenging to secure the new supplier. There might not be enough of "something else" to replace the ingredient in question, for the volume of Ben & Jerry's.- < good point.
Also, it should be HFCS. Sorry, I was the one who accidentally typed HCFS.randommail - ... typed HCFS.randommail
- < good point.

There are actually a lot of Ben & Jerry's flavors that DON'T use corn syrup. Of the first 10 (of 110) current flavors, only 2 had corn syrup in them.

i imagine this is a bit of Unilever (who owns Ben & Jerry's) trying to get the profit margins up. Or it may be a product of trying to achieve wilder flavors and not being able to do it consistently or sustainably without corn syrup.

first world problem. seriously. If people wanna eat ice cream, it's pretty common knowledge that it's gonna make 'em fat fuckers! There are plenty healthier options out there.
Why not get riled up about a cause that actually matters?

If the government would stop subsidizing corn (and everything else for that matter) you would see a dramatic change in the way Americans eat. Food would actually start to reflect real cost. No more cat litter made out of corn for goodness sake!

One of the main problems with HFCS is that it's made from Genetically Modified (GMO) corn. Most of Europe has banned GMO foods because of serious health risks, but in the ol' USA we put these untested products on the market before they're proven safe.
But go ahead and eat corn syrup if you like the idea of your nuts to shriveling up.
