So what do you think and why?
Does this thing really make gaming more engaging, or is it doing what the wii did 3 years ago.
Is this technology being fully utilised with xbox, or would a bit of this tech be awesome in revolutionising user interfaces?

Talked with someone who had the opportunity to do testing. She said, that the Kinect had a hard time not "noticing" things in the background. She said it seemed to really pick up on a lot of the things behind her, whether it was people watching I don't know, I didn't get into exact specifics.

Certainly a revolutionary bit of hardware, we're planning on using it for interactive installations next year. Not really sure it has many applications in gaming - maybe to supplement other controllers, for gestural GUI control etc.
ATM Microsoft still haven't released the tools to the XNA creators club, experiments are mostly in OpenFrameworks so everyone is starting from scratch with the tech. They're only scratching the surface TBH. When someone creates a good 3d body tracking library that can control boned models we'll all be running around like Andy Serkis.

Yeh that sounds good. I have used the Kinect, I found it ok, but not really anything to special as of yet. I would love to be able to plug into into a computer and possibly get some drivers and figure out how to code it. I feel the object recognition side of it has so much potential as far as creating a physical search engine.
