Id like to publish a short story, it's fiction of course. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this, which magazines they applied to etc.

be like every other writer out there, write something people want to read then a publisher will come a knocking. do you have a blog or twitter of your writing for anyone to stumble across?

id like to keep it away from blogs. i just thought it would be nice to be published in a magazine. im tryin to remember the name of one i used to buy with short fictional stories in, but for the life of me i cant. too much boozing i guess

A frequently published author once told me getting published has a lot to do with who you know (or who knows your name) and not necessarily merit. But good writers do make it through the clutter. Persistence is key to getting published your first few times. Send a lot of submissions to all the pubs (especially the small ones) and keep after it, is the advice I remember from my writing classes. Good luck.
