I don't think Krop is right for this. Any ideas on where I can post? Can I post this type of stuff in here?

thanks whendog, didn't know they had jobs on there. f w a and krop seem to cater to full-time positions. doesn't mean i can't post asking for freelancers, but i was just wondering if there's a popular site that's geared towards freelancers.

i didn't want to post the project details in here in case that's against the rules ;)
i'd like to get a few people on my list for different projects that come up, but the project that's going on right now is a flash site for a movie production company that will be run off of xml. i'm hoping to find a good developer with some animation skills, but that may be asking for too much. i'd rather go for great dev skills and good animation skills than the other way around. looking to use swfaddress as well. no flex or anything like that. should be relatively simple, just lots of loading of external content (images, video, text) from the xml.

why XML? is it because of an XML feed? Because the client was promised XML? Because somebody likes saying "XML" over and over again?
NONEIS is right, XML for flash is not the answer to everything, and it can be both slow and fragile sometimes....

flash is dead, right? ;)
- gavin3100
XML because the client didn't want to go for a CMS, but still wanted the ability for a somewhat-web-savvy person to update the site without having to go into Flash.
- Clients never update XML, it;s best to plan for having to make those updates yourself, and there's all sorts of wrong about hand editing XML files...NONEIS
- hand editing XML files...NONEIS
- backup original XML files, be ready to replace them when client calls and wonders why updates mess up!vaxorcist
- also make sure your XML files are full of CDATA tags, which make things work but violate the idea of XML....vaxorcist

I'd have leapt at this a week ago but have now ditched freelancing (and my soul), in exchange for a salary and stability. I know another really great flash dev, who may be interested, I'll get in touch with him.

Would have jumped at this too but way too busy at the moment. Will never ditch freelancing (or my soul).
