Pretty basic stuff, cant get it to work though.
I'm in a movie clip, need to jump up 1 level and tell the playhead to go to next frame and stop.
Thought this would work, but it doesnt. Looked online, not even sure what im looking for at this point since I really thought this would work.
_parent.gotoAndStop.nextFrame();

thats the right code dude
if there is only 2 levels maybe try _root.gotoAndStop.nextFrame();
or even _parent._parent.gotoAndStop.next...

No I just need it to go up one level. This is really a mystery to me why it's refusing to jump to the next frame.

_parent.nextFrame(); yourWelcome();

^ Worked, gracias, so it was the gotoandstop. Wonder why that was causing a problem.

gotoAndStop and nextFrame are two separate functions. You added them both together. It 'sounds' correct but it's like saying play.stop();
You can also navigate frames by using the current frame and then adding an increment on.
AS2: _parent.gotoAndStop ( _parent._currentframe + 8 );
AS3: parent.gotoAndStop (parent.currentFrame + 3);

i blame this on jquery.
