Wet Look / 3D Logo's

Does anyone know where the best place to start is with designing a 'wet look' / 3D / Glassy / Web 2.0 Logo.
Examples of what I mean are:
Apple
Sky HD
Skype
Three
X boxI need to prepare an option like this for a client and I haven't got a clue were to start...Should I do it all in Illustrator with gradient mesh's and blur effects etc, or should I be doing a SUPER high res version in Photoshop?

The only acceptable "wet look" logo, imo...

So ... most of these links are for Photoshop...do you think that's acceptable? Had rather hoped to do it in Illustrator so that it is Vectorised....Maybe I will just contact the creator of a few of these big named brands and see what they say...haha!!
