All / most of these are just expensive brands. They look kind of crap to me.
I was kind of doing research for a redesign myself - but for an "expensive looking", modern software product.
I like these. Anyone have other examples?

Dont mistake expensive looking sites with expensive brands. Most times brands simply look expensive because of the images of their products on the front page, or because they are well known brands.
Good typography and beautiful photography will make and influence any design.

This website is good for a list to a shit load of fancy (sometimes gay) brands.
- and the site itself is top fucking notch!!!! very slick indeedProjectile

bigtrick,
I dont think much can be taken design-wise from these websites already posted. None are "well designed" and none of them are great sites typographically. As Atkinson says, its the photography assets that make these sites look so good.
If you want good classic design then look at good classic typography and printed material and take influence from that and translate it to a website design.
- agreed - now show me the great typographic examples (:bigtrick

i'm mainly peeping the type treatments - need more ideas. especially for expensive-looking serifs that look good at small sizes, but yeah... it's mostly the type treatments i'm after.

The sites here are kind of classic but is it not the photography that makes them feel expensive?
