Deal with dude who has old number?

I switched phone numbers after many years of being in my current city. Now the guy who has my old number is such a jack-ass. He yells at people and gets super annoyed that he has my old number when people call for me.
Obviously I have emailed everyone in my book about my new number, but some people have just not updated it properly...
What should I do? Should I call this dude and tell him to chill out? Just let time pass? Tell him I will break his legs if he curses another one of my contacts again?

Naw, he won't care if you ask him to chill out. Probably just bitch at you and then either be more rude to your mistaken friends or act like it is still your number and tell them you're busy buggering yourself in the bathroom with a frozen banana
