any entry level slr with stock lens will do the job, in fact, if you are only doing for the web, I've shot most of my own stuff with a 300d which is like 6 mega pix or something like that. Get a posterboard lay it down on a table, use your desk lamp/ or shoot near a window with good light and avoid using direct flash, maybe a short tripod ($25 bucks or under).

Here are some examples, these were taken with a canon 300d (today probably $250 on ebay, with stock lens, which is what it was used)
By no means I consider myself a photographer, I'm a designer and I got the camera to shoot my work. No point in dropping money on the latest camera just to show it off.
