I've been collecting mood boards consisting of nothing but granny buttons for a month now.
Frankly I'm amazed it hasn't caught on yet.
Of course the second it does, I'll drop them and switch to shrouds and tits, or whatever is hot that week.

There's a lot of semiotic talk about granny buttons floating around, particularly in relation to the emergent cultural trend strategies, but I hadn't heard about the whole shrouds and tits thing until the TED conference. I think its very much a Mexico-derived trajectory that has obvious appeal in the far east.

"Gently travelling along the Oxford canal we passed Granny Buttons a couple of times. I don't seem to have much time to update this blog, but here's a photo of Granny Buttons"

There's a company in the UK that's been touting granny buttons for months, but nobody would take them seriously. Of course the same company also claimed trowing halm would catch on.

"Recently, I was asked by locals in Bonehill to visit a popular walk across a canal bridge which, for a long time, has been covered in graffiti. It’s been getting worse and is a magnet for groups of youngsters drinking into the early hours, leaving empty beer cans and ‘other stuff’ which locals have to deal with the next morning. I’ve commented on this on the Granny Buttons website, but I thought I'd mention it here too"
