I was pissed that the "The Thing from Another World" (1951) or the remake "The Thing" 1982 wasn't available on Netflix on demand last night.
Look's like I'll have to go to Movie Madness and and rent them both this weekend.

So did they just sit in the cold waiting to die in the end?

YES YES YES, I absolutely fucking LOVE "The Thing". Scared the living shit out of me when I saw it as a kid, must have been 10 or so.
- Same here.. My dad passed out on the couch only to be awakened by the head-spider scene .. He was like "HOLYSHIIIIT... what are you watching?"Ramanisky2
- "HOLYSHIIIIT... what are you watching?" .. Haha I was 11 years old..Ramanisky2

People are always talking about sequels that never happen.
They were supposed to be remaking A Nightmare On Elm Street a couple of years ago
- ukit0
Also not sure if you guys liked "Pitch Black" but apparently there is a third film on the way...supposed to be more in the style of the original
- fooler20
I watched the original when I was a kid and it scared the living crap out of me.

How many Carpenter films was Kurt Russel in?
Big Trouble In Little China,
Escape From New York

I'm not saying it's not an amazing film, it's just that because it's so famous and directed by Stanley Cubrick, people always pipe in and say how great a horro movie it is without really knowing anything about the genre.
There's a whole list of classic BnW horror films I'd put in front of The Shinning, The Wolfman, Frankenstien, Nosferatu

exactly, in the end, he's like "fuck it."
- ukit0
Totally...and I love how the Kurt Russell character doesn't even try to be heroic all that much. He's just completely downbeat the whole time and seems to want to blow everything up.
- Anyway, hopefully this sequel will be good. I can see some potential there if it is like the "Dawn of the Dead" remake.ukit
- I don't care what anyone says Dawn of the Dead remake was killer,Ancillary
- they could do a decent sequel for sure. the key would be gathering a group of A+ seasoned actors.prophet

aside from the human spider heads and the wacky sprinkler dogs, it's great because it focusses on the paranoia and the isolation the characters are feeling. in the end, it's a hopeless situation.
