Are you sure it's the monitor not the video card? What's the computer? Some MacBooks Pro's video chips have extended warranty under a nvidia silent recall program. Mine showed stuff like that and had logic board replaced twice for free.

I had a similar issue, but mine affected the whole screen and was in the end the video card.

If you can, try using this monitor with a fresh cord on another machine.
