Your hourly rate completely depends on your experience and talent/arrogance, it can range anywhere from £15 to £200 per hour. Basically if it's some big corporate fuck who's sought you out because of your amazing portfolio or a recommendation from Mick Jagger, charge the earth. But seeing as you're asking this question, you're probably on the lower end and might want to consider the fact that if they know you'll do decent work for cheap they'll ask for more/recommend you.
What I usually do is break it down to an amount of hours, then add the hourly rate and submit the total as a project fee. (people seldom like paying per hour)
That way if you get close to the amount of hours stated, but they've been messing you around and you're nowhere near finishing, you can simply submit a new quote with more hours=more money instead of just adding a random figure. It just makes the money seem more justified.
my 2 cents..
