Well ukit, perhaps this might sound stupid to you, but I decided to start a blog just for fun because I got tired of the same (top 25 lists, etc) and because I want to think there are other designers out there who miiiight find an article or interview interesting. I don't make a penny off it and don't plan to. I do research the web constantly and whenever I find something interesting or that I like, I share it. That's it.
I really work on it so it doesn't come across as advertising, spam or same old content... but I understand some people will still think it sucks :(- This? http://diegoguevara.…

I have had one for about 7 years now , have ran everything from Exponent to Wordpress on it , even had it full flash back in like 2005 ,
I make more money from local and regional advertisers than I do with google , not that I am on a yacht or anything but I made enough to keep me interested in doing it . And learned a whole hell of a lot about the Web Business.
Hell yea it is super tough to manage , it really is just me, I had freelance photographers, writers , designers but dam I was paying others more than I kept just to meet the demand , now I have slacked it for a month and the hits are in the gutter , but it is fun and keeps my nose in the latest on web development
It is not always about top 25 this or that, hell I think we did our first top anything list this month, it is about finding a niche , it really is. Tech is not niche anymore , design hmm no I would say , but something local, a local beat kind of blog, or hobby based, if you do tech or design , post original content , your own tips and tricks , people always want to try a new technique I would say, Guess it helps to live is smaller cities where the reach of Mega Media is still not as prominent .
I see it as a mom and pop kind of store. A small local site , with a local based audience that can get you advertisers paying anything from $40 to $150 a month x say 5 pays off a bill or two at least

I'm curious about this too. What are the these bloggers making? As in how much $$$ a month for the average blog? (Average blog as in NOT like Gizmodo but like your everyday person). Are we talking $5 a month, $200 a month, $2000 a month. Anyone with real numbers, experience? Just curious.

I'm a self-proclaimed SEO expert, and let me tell you that blogging will make you a lot of money, not through AdSense, but there are other ways, I will share my secrets if you subscribe to my blog, if you come back and visit my blog 100 times, the secrets will then be revealed.

I started because I was constantly shooting emails to friends of interesting finds. I figured they could all come to one spot to check them out. I also enjoy sharing my DIY's. I really only post things that are my flavor, so I am not really trying to appeal to the masses. After 2.5 years I am starting to see some good revenue.

You have to build a following and have a reason for people to come back several times a day. Either update you content X-times daily or have a staff of "bloggers" to write content for your site.
I run Forsnowboarding http://www.forsnowboarding.com as a side project to see what would become of this and it turned out to be fairly difficult to actually make any money, like $3 a day or something compared to a few hours of work. If you have 10,000,000 views a month, then you can do it, but it's tough.
