I told her to go back to school... cuz the degree that she has works for shit... she loves taking photos and I think she has a great eye... I wanna talk to her about good schools around new york... I mean I know partson and SVA have photo degrees... but I want to know which one is better... and if there's anything better out there.

"she wants to go back home cuz she cant find a job... I told her to go back to school..."
oh man, and you think a photo degree is going to help with this?

not to diss photography - just dissing the job prospects of photo graduates, is all.

mmmmmm I know.... but at least she can go back to school and focus on something that she likes and not trying to find a PA or Receptionist job... I dont know... it was an idea that I had for her to stay

That's a cop-out. If you really want to shoot for a living there is ALWAYS work. You just need to be willing to work hard at it. Also most good colleges set you up with a work placement in your final year where you can work as an assistant and hope to take on a full time roll at some point.- i would not depend on colleges to set up work placementpixellette
- You generally handle this yourself, since you want to chose the photog that you respect and most of all love their work

Probably SVA if she thinks she might want to go into Commercial Photography. But in the meantime, she could try starting someplace more affordable like HUNTER college. Does ICP offer classes?
Regardless, she needs to start shooting daily and figuring out what she wants to say, along with experimenting with all the technical hoohaa.I don't know much about photography, but here are a couple general photo blogs I visit daily that keep me from sounding like a complete idiot:
