Hi again, so I am starting at a company that has never had a designer before and I want to give them a list of essential fonts they should purchase since they just have the basics that come with windows..... yes I am currently not working on a mac (sob). But at any rate, I would love it if some of you guys would give me a list of what you think would be essential (ie. helvetica, univers, etc)
Thanks!!

Like utopian said, H&FJ has some great, practical typefaces.

Apparently, Toronto is the San Fernando (Porn) Valley of the north.
Amanda asks, what fonts are needed for that kind of graphic design work?

Maybe you should figure out their brand identity and then purchase fonts that support it. I mean, I could suggest Helv Neus, Adobe Garamond, etc. but without knowing with what and how they're being used, it seems pointless.
- They don't really have a brand, that's why I am here.. and why you are all so amazing to help with advice :)AmandaLee

You might also want to stock up on colours - May I recommend Pantone references 123, 1495, 1955, 305, 481, and 7475?

- I have a lot of fonts on my computer but I feel that if I use them at work, wouldn't it be illegal? Won't they need to purchase it themselves?AmandaLee
