I just spent 4 days in Berlin. We lived at Hotel Bogota in the Charlottenburg area. Cheap and nice hotel in a very good neighborhood. Berlin is a great city, cool people and good beer.

Hotel Alex in East Berlin (Mitte??)
Close to Prenzlauer Allee, which has many fine record stores along it. An ideal day out for wife and child.
