^Oops! Sorry. You're using the stock components, you're right. You can f*ck around with the alpha and tint on those, but not much else unless you gonna actually make custom skins... which is a bit involved. I haven't used those in a while.
If you know how to install components (hardly rocket science) visit the site I listed above and download/install the XMCA components. They'll show up in your components panel and employ them the same way. They DO have a resource folder and you can customize all day.

Welcome back 2000

your best bet would be to go to activeden.net and just get source files. They're cheap.
There was also a guy/semi-spammer on here who used to post "Free Flash Source Files" like once a week for about 10 years. It got annoying after so many times. QBN prolly deleted all of those posts. Guess that woulda came in handy about now.

^What version of components are u using?
UI Components Set 2? If not, download and install. Doesn't get any easier... will get you what you need.

www.kirupa.com has a decent tutorial if I remember correctly

Once you've gotten the Kirupa stuff under your belt, visit this place for some interesting variations on scroll bars, panes, image masks, etc...

A 9 page tutorial. Was hoping this would be a little easier.

it's a bit of a process... but if you understand using / calling components in flash it's pretty easy.
- They need to make this so I can make a text box and drop a fucking scrollbar component on it. Done.CygnusZero4
- are you saying that flash makes simple ui stuff really complex and will be suffocated by css, js and html ?mikotondria3

Um...
Start new Flash doc
Click text tool
Make text box by dragging out a rectangle
Select box and give it an instance name (like: myText) in the properties panel
Also select Multiline/text wrap
Right click text box and select "Scrollable"
Fill box with text that exceeds the size of rectangle
Drag scrollbar component to stage
Scrollbar parameters panel: target = myText
Now scroll some shit.
Done and done.- this can also be done using AS, but for starters...ItTango
- That's more like it. Thanks. Now I just need to figure out how to change the color of it.CygnusZero4
- Library/Resources. Find the folder for the scrollbar and edit the symbols.ItTango
