I just bought an ion usb turntable $79 and it has built in software that automatically downloads it into your itunes. Then i can screen each one for pops and scratches and sell the super rare ones on ebay. takes a bit of time but i am finding some of my vinyl are going for $20-75 on ebay so for me it is worth it and it is fun.

No, they dont have to be vinyl rips. But alot of the stuff i have is deep house that wasnt released digitally. I used to use soulseek for pc. That had alot of the stuff i have.
I used to think this same thing 5 years ago, but these days there is WAY MORE stuff released digitally than on vinyl.
Between mastering and cutting a dubplate you can pay between $40 - $100 per track, a digital release cost nothing more than your own sweat (and studio gear) these days.Don't search for "vinyl rips" search for "mp3s" and I'm sure you will find most of your old tracks, unless they are suuuuuuuuper rare dubplates that were given to you by the producers themselves, you can always just rip those yourself or look at the producer's site to see if he has it released digitally and where to buy it

Samurai's right. If you want your vinyl only stuff digital, why not just get a USB turntable?

nothing sounds like [insert favorite medium here]
(adjust attitude here)

by a vinyl rip do you mean an mp3?
is this a windup?
- toe_knee0
no windup. I have about 800 vinyl, want to download them as mp3s so I can listen to em on ipod. Save me having to record them myself.
Limewire is shite and only seems to have snoop doggiebone shite

If I got it right, torrent sites like what.cd and waffles.fm are what your're after. Good luck.

serves you right for owning too much vinyl

I think it might be faster and less painful to rip them yourself. Vinyl rips are heavy and not that popular.

I did this a while back and it takes a while. Got myself a Numark deck that plugs into my laptop via usb, downloaded Audacity and then began the painful process.
It takes ages.

- one thing I leaned about technology is that it always moves forward, gotta roll with the timesBaskerviIle
- no point getting attached to a medium. I realise this doesn't help. but the whole vinyl thing annoys meBaskerviIle
- Why does vinyl annoy you? I bought all mine before MP3 mixing, not as some "cool" retro thangJimbo82
