I once recommended it as a good solution for an external drive.
Now, I just want to warn against it: the drive is hardware encrypted (even if you don't set a password). This means, if the enclosure fails, you cannot move your drive into another enclosure to read it. It only works with the original case.
Mine just died - won't boot up. The drive is ok, but appears as blank when I put it in another enclosure – it can't be read without the original case.

Putting it in another enclosure may have been a bad move.
Have you checked if it is something easy like a power supply problem?
Contact WD or data recovery specialists.

I only used non-invasive data recovery software in a standard enclosure. Also checked with a different ps first.
I will clone the drive before sending it to WD.

Without fan, but it was the enclosure, not the drive that failed. It didn't have the time to heat up either.
