Anyone ever have issues printing cyrillic characters that are mixed in with normal latin/english characters?
I had a book go on press, passed all stages of the proofing and press checks only to find out cyrillic characters I had to use in one of the author bio's were converted to squares instead of the typeface I specified. Unfortunately this author is one of the major contributors and we'll have to reprint a whole signature just to correct the error.
I'm just curious if anyone else has ever had an issue like this?
If you're wondering, this issue occured sometime after handing off the files to the printer: Our match proofs contained the correct characters. My guess is it happened right before the pages were burned to plates... *sigh*

Yeah, no text was converted to outlines before handing off to printer. They recieved packaged, native InDesign files and also Press-Quality PDF's...
Had I known it was an issue i would have converted that selection of text to outlines... unfortunately... *shrug*

Sounds like the printer needs to cough up for the reprinting.

@typist,
I've only begun working extensively with printers in the last 2 years. I've done many jobs with this printer and I will vouch for them and say they are probably one of the best printers i've worked with since working professionally as a designer.
@JackRyan,
Yeah, it's on them.- KTD Communications Group & Allied Printing out of Great Metro Detroit Aread_rek
