Think I figured it out: User error.
If you have snap to grid AND snap to point on, it seems like the snap to point overrides the grid. so when working on a web layout it's possible to snap to a perfect pixel box at a center point and get a half pixel. I think I just downward spiraled my measurements by not paying attention to the over all box sizes.

not sure why you're having to hold cmnd to use snapping... shouldn't be like that in cs4.

- doesn't help to snap it to a pixel grid. even with that on I land on half pixels.

it used to be if I turned on snap to grid / guides it would frickin' snap to it. now in CS$ it has flipped on me and I have to hold down the command key when drawing or dragging to get it to lock on. Is there any way to flip the action so that holding down the command key releases it from the snap to?
